About me
Welcome to Music Production HQ, where you will learn how to improve your music production. On Music Production HQ you will find valuable information on basic concepts such is what is a compressor and how does equalization work? This may seem basic to some of you and confusing to others. I remember when I was just starting out and the world of audio production can be very overwhelming. Let’s get you spending more time on your music and less time confused and lost.
You will also learn more advance technique from session workflows and general work flows that will make you more knowledgeable and more efficient with any type of music production that you can use implement NOW.
A few other things I plan to do is to update you as I work in studios throughout Nashville along with my home studio. By doing this you will get some of the latest information I am learning to help improve your music production with what is working in the field without having to do the hard work up front. I will be detailing some of my sessions for you to look at and doing comparisons so you can hear it first hand.
So who am I? I’m 28 and have loved music all my life. I picked up a bass guitar at 16 and that was that. I played in various bands through my late teens and early to mid twenties playing in front of thousands of people and even getting my music played on major radio stations and gaining major label interest including Chad from Nickelback. As time passed my interested in recording grew and I found myself more interested in studios and how they worked.
Fall of 2010 I decided to return to school for audio production. It was a rough 2 years to say the least and I learned a lot and met some pretty amazing people. I also got certified by Avid in Pro Tools HD|9 music and post. May 16th 2012 I finished my schooling and received an associates in audio production. I was able to do a lot of recording and am very excited for what is next.
I am now on to my next adventure Nashville! Right after graduation I went down to Nashville and ended up securing an internship at Blackbird Studios out of 15 studios I called I got call backs from 9! I recently got a letter of recommendation from Blackbird and will be going back to do sessions with Nashville artist. I also have given 1 on 1 music production lessons covering things such as setting up pro tools to recording and mixing. When I am not doing things with music I play poker, play disc golf, cook, enjoys microbrews, spend too much time with technology, and try to do things that scare the hell out of me and make me uncomfortable regularly.
I have wanted to start a site that would help others improve their music production. I ran into a site called smartpassiveincome.com and it was a huge call to action. I knew I had to create this site and help more people than I could in person improve their music. I do not claim to know everything I simply listen to help those that want to listen and learn.
I plan to start from the ground up amusing that everyone that comes here knows nothing. That is not to say you do not know anything but I want to start with the basics and build. I will only speak of things that I have personally tried and researched after all the first rule in music production is there are no rules. In the process you and I will both learn and grow to become the best music producers we can.
